半人前
半人前 in Kishicho, Kita Ward, pairs fresh sashimi and small plates such as grilled eggplant with tomato and cheese with distinctive drinks including a Dr Pepper sour, in a relaxed izakaya setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
On the third floor of a building, 半人前 is an izakaya for well-made home-style cooking and drinks in an easy-going setting. From the counter, diners can watch the owner cook with practised ease. The warm atmosphere works for a solo stop or a meal around a table with friends.
The menu features daily sashimi and a generous range of well-priced small plates. Sashimi praised for its freshness sits alongside snacks made for drinks: nasu tomato cheese-yaki, grilled eggplant with tomato and cheese; aromatic salt-grilled seseri; and the house specialty karashi-yaki, which can be adjusted for heat. For a later-course finish, there are nostalgic noodle dishes such as the “太めーんナポリタン” and yakisoba, available in white with salted garlic or black with the standard sauce.
Drinks range from draft beer and various sake to the unusual Dr Pepper sour, Hoppy and a Baisu set, offering a choice to suit the mood. Open from 6 pm until late, 半人前 suits anything from a drink after work to a relaxed evening meal.
